The youngster is set to be given his chance to impress at Liverpool.

Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo has told the Liverpool Echo that manager Jurgen Klopp has promised him chances in January.

The Reds boss has hinted he may enter the January transfer window for another forward, with Philippe Coutinho and Danny Ings both injured and Sadio Mane heading to the African Cup of Nations.

Any move is likely to be an expensive one, though, and perhaps a look at the club’s youth ranks would be the wiser decision.

It certainly seems that will be the case, with Ojo revealing that Klopp has already hinted as much in discussions with the player.

“[Klopp] has mentioned to me that he wants to give me an opportunity which is nice,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I’m grateful for that because as a young player you don’t get many opportunities at a massive club like Liverpool.

“So I have to knuckle down, keep working hard and get as many minutes as I can with the reserves and try and prove to the manager that I’m ready. Hopefully, I’ll get my opportunity soon.”

It will be interesting to see what work Liverpool do end up doing in the January transfer window if any.

All indications have been that they won’t be active but there is every chance that they could change that view over December.

Further injuries could force their hand, while the state of their title challenge come January is also likely to affect their plans.

If they are still challenging then Klopp may view signings as the perfect boost to help his side in the second half of the campaign.
