Andriy Shevchenko has now warned AC Milan to expect a ‘difficult’ game in the second leg at Tottenham Hotspur. The Rossoneri hold a 1-0 lead in the Champions League last 16 tie.

AC Milan narrowly edged Spurs at San Siro last Tuesday through Brahim Diaz. The forward beat Fraser Forster after just seven minutes to secure his Serie A side a first-leg advantage. The Italian powerhouse will now travel to north London come March 8 for the reverse leg.

Charles De Ketelaere and Malick Thiaw enjoyed chances to put AC Milan further ahead at home to Tottenham. But the pair spurned their headers to afford Antonio Conte’s team a lifeline. While the Premier League squad struggled to create chances over the first period.

Tottenham regularly struggled to create clear-cut chances after the break despite enjoying a lot of possession, as well. Even after the introduction of Richarlison for Dejan Kulusevski, Spurs could not punish AC Milan for their missed shots as openings to score went begging.

Son Heung-Min created two solid chances for Tottenham to score at AC Milan for a draw in their Champions League Round of 16 first-leg meeting. But neither Harry Kane nor Eric Dier could fire their headers home. Dier will also now miss the second leg through suspension.

Shevchenko tells AC Milan to expect a tougher Tottenham in the Champions League

Dier will miss the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie as the Tottenham star earned his third booking of the campaign at AC Milan. He had also picked up cautions in Group D against Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt. He has started all seven of their ties.

Nonetheless, AC Milan icon Shevchenko expects Tottenham will give his former club a real test in the reverse fixture. The 2002/03 Champions League winner with the Rossoneri feels Spurs will up their levels at home. But he also likes how Stefano Pioli’s side is progressing.

“It will be a difficult away match in London,” Shevchenko has now told TuttoMercatoWEB. “Tottenham play well at home and will pick up the pace. But I see a growing Milan that has found peace of mind.”
