Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (12:31pm, September 12, 2020) that he thinks that Liverpool have a realistic chance of signing Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager praised the Bayern Munich central midfielder and believes that he is “a fantastic technician”.

With the 29-year-old central midfielder out of contract at Bayern at the end of the 2020-21 season, Sherwood believes that the Premier League champions could secure the services of the former Barcelona star this summer.

Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (12:31pm, September 12, 2020): “Thiago is a player they are not going to find through their academy at this present moment in time, and he would help them out immensely.

“He is a fantastic technician. I don’t think he is going to be signing a new signing at Bayern, so I think there is a realistic chance they would get him before the window closes.”

Liverpool speculation

Thiago has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

According to The Mirror in August and Bleacher Report in September, the Reds want to sign the 29-year-old, who played a key role in Bayern winning the Champions League last season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp himself praised Thiago in The Liverpool Echo, with Goal.com quoting former president Uli Hoeness as saying that he thinks that the central midfielder “obviously has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or both of them”.
