Tim Sherwood thinks Tottenham will have three ‘world-class’ players if Gareth Bale joins the club, as he told talkSPORT (16/09/20 at 9:15 am).

The former midfielder pointed out that striker Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son are already in the ‘world-class’ bracket and he thinks Bale would be a ‘massive asset’ for the North London team.

Sky Sports have reported that Bale’s stunning return to Spurs is edging closer – he left the club seven years ago.

Even though Tottenham’s front three could end up looking seriously dangerous, Sherwood did question who will feed them the ball.

“It’s alright having Son, who I think is world-class,” Sherwood told talkSPORT. “Harry Kane. World-class. Gareth Bale, obviously world-class. But who is going to give them the ball?

“But I have to say when Gareth was at his best at Tottenham it was under Andres Villa-Boas. He played a very pragmatic style in behind him. Similar to how Jose likes to go about his game.

“Everyone sat in, nice structure and quite plody around the midfield areas. But, on the counter-attack, he was electrifying. The whole game was revolved around him.

“But when you see the best of Gareth Bale, it’s when the whole game, like he does with Wales, it’s revolved around him. We put the structure in to suit him. I am not sure Jose would go as far as to do that. But he would certainly be a massive asset.”

Only a couple of weeks ago, many were expecting the major transfer story to come out of La Liga to be the seemingly unhappy Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona.

But that drama, for now at least, has been put on pause, as Bale will now steal that limelight if he does make a return to England’s top-flight and North London.

The Premier League in itself will be richer with Bale tearing opposition defenders apart and Spurs fans will be hoping he gets his fitness and sharpness in his legs as quickly as possible because the quicker he takes, the more they will benefit.
