On talkSPORT, Tim Sherwood included the one and only Miguel Almiron in his Premier League Team of the Season after 14 games.

Almiron is having the season of his life

The Paraguayan winger has perhaps been the ultimate surprise package in the English top-flight, registering an impressive 8 goals in the league so far.

Since joining the Magpies in 2019 for the-then club record fee of £20 million (BBC Sport), the 28-year old failed to blow any trees in the Premier League.

However, the fleet-footed forward has managed to flip the script this time around, emerging as the top-scoring winger in the division up until this point.

Much like Joelinton, Almiron seems to have benefited hugely from the arrival of Eddie Howe, who has turned him into the best version of himself up until this point.

The former Atlanta United talisman’s searing pace, quick feet and relentless pressing has made him an absolute menace to contend with for any opposition in the league this season.

So much so that it was recently reported by the Athletic that Newcastle had opted against signing a brand-new right winger in January, purely based off how well the in-form operator was playing.

Sherwood reserves special praise for Almiron

Speaking on talkSPORT, Tim Sherwood went as far as to select Miguel Almiron for the right-wing spot in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.

“[Miguel] Almiron has to be in the side [Premier League Team of the Season so far], because of the goals and the assists. The transformation of him since Eddie Howe’s gone to Newcastle has been outstanding.”

While some may put forward either Manchester City’s Phil Foden or Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka as candidates for the right-wing berth, it must be emphasized the Paraguayan international is hitting the same heights while playing for a worse side in comparison.

As Sherwood said before, Almiron’s transformation has been nothing short of unimaginable.
