Tim Sherwood has claimed that reported Tottenham and Newcastle transfer target, Tyrick Mitchell, is a ‘very diligent’ defender, as he told Sky Sports News (02/04/22 at 1:30 pm).
The former Spurs boss added that the left-back is similar to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but he has ‘a little bit more going forward’ than the former Crystal Palace player.
Mitchell was recently capped by his country during England’s latest friendly matches against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast.
With that spotlight being put on your head, it comes with your own scrutiny, including in the transfer market, with rumours that Spurs and Newcastle are keen on signing the London-born defender.
Sherwood thinks given that Palace are ‘always going to be a mid-table team’, he stated that they would then have to sell their biggest assets, including Mitchell.
“He’s good one v one,” said Sherwood. “Wan-Bissaka was good one v one defending. But I think this boy has got a little bit more going forward as well.
“Very diligent in his defending. He’s not fazed by who he plays against. Nice and strong. Also very quick and he knows his limitations, which I think is key for any player.
“He’s got good pace. You see him recovering. Confidence is the biggest word about him. He is only growing.
“For him to bounce onto the scene like he has done, Patrick Vieira has to take all the credit. Palace are going to always be a mid-table side, maybe a cup run. Other than that, they have to sell their biggest assets and they certainly have that now.”

Sergio Reguilon, Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies are the men that have deployed that left-sided channel for Spurs.
If the north London club are going to push for a player like Mitchell, then it means at least one of them have to be sold.
Sessegnon can play further forward and in more attacking positions, whilst Davies has been used on a left side of a back three.
But, either way, a certain Arsenal legend in Patrick Vieira will be sure to stand by the door if someone comes knocking for his talented stars, especially Tottenham.
