Tim Sherwood has said on Premier League Productions that Gylfi Sigurdsson was a very good influence on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Sigurdsson, now at Everton, was on the books of Tottenham from 2012 until 2014 when the North London club sold the attacking midfielder to Swansea City in a deal that saw Ben Davies and Michel Vorm move the other way.

The 31-year-old Iceland international scored both goals for Everton in their 2-2 draw with Spurs at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Friday evening.

Former Tottenham manager Sherwood has said that Sigurdsson was a very good influence on Spurs striker Kane – who scored both the goals against Everton – during his time at the club.

Sherwood said about Sigurdsson on Premier League Productions: “He really wants to prove against his old team that he should still possibly be there. He loved the club, he was a very, very good influence on Harry Kane when he was there.”

Disappointing result

It was a very disappointing result for both Everton and Tottenham, and the two teams could miss out on the Premier League top four this season.

Although it was a very entertaining game, there were defensive errors that neither Everton nor Tottenham will be pleased with.

Tottenham are five points off the Champions League places, while Everton are six points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
