Harry Kane has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Tottenham.

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has told TalkSPORT that Spurs talisman Harry Kane would not be playing for the north London club if the striker boasted the kind of pace of Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Kane, 24, is now just two goals away from reaching a century with the north London club, as he continues his mesmerising goalscoring form this season with 28 strikes in as many games.

TalkSPORT claim Aubameyang “is set” to join north London rivals Arsenal after the Gabon international told current club Borussia Dortmund that he wanted to leave, and Sherwood compared the two players.

Sherwood reckons that if Kane had the blistering speed of Aubaemyang then he would not be at Spurs, as he compared the two strikers. He also claimed that if Kane did have speed, he would be earning more than £500k a week.

“Everyone is always looking for a weakness in Harry Kane but they can’t find it,” Sherwood said. “If you’re looking for a weakness – he’s not as quick as Aubameyang – but he hasn’t got a lot of stuff that Harry Kane has.

“If Harry Kane had speed I don’t know where he’d be. But he probably wouldn’t be playing for Tottenham at the moment. Everyone would absolutely break the bank.

“We’re talking about £500,000-a-week [for Alexis Sanchez] – Kane would be a lot more than that.”

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Kane is set to be offered a huge bumper pay rise that will see his pay cheque eclipse his Spurs teammates, with chairman Daniel Levy said to be prepared to up his earnings from £110,000 to £200,000 a week.

Former Millwall and Norwich City loanee Kane is expected to start against Southampton on Sunday afternoon, as Spurs travel to the south coast tasked with making it six wins out of seven games.
