Javier Hernandez may be struggling to play well for West Ham United at the moment, but the Mexico international has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.

According to a recent report in The Telegraph, United are interested in signing Hernandez from West Ham this month.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has suggested that the 29-year-old would be a good signing for the Red Devils.

Sherwood told Sky Sports: “Yeah, it would be an option. I think Jose is an admirer of Hernandez.

“I think he would probably be quite cheap at this stage and gettable. Not sure he fits into what David Moyes wants to do down there at West Ham for this season.”

Hernandez joined West Ham from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £16 million.

Much was expected of the Mexican striker when he arrived at the London Stadium, but the 29-year-old has struggled to make a huge impact for the Hammers.

The former Guadalajara star was on the books of United from 2010 until 2015 and was quite successful during his time at Old Trafford.

United may be out of the running for the Premier League title this season, but Jose Mourinho’s side are in the Champions League knockout stages.

However, United may have moved on from Hernandez. According to a report on BBC Sport today, the Red Devils are favourites to sign Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez from Premier League rivals Arsenal for £35 million.
