Tim Sherwood has said on Premier League Productions that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should not have sent Joe Willock out on loan.
Willock joined Newcastle United on loan from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been brilliant for the Magpies and has scored some important goals for Steve Bruce’s side.
According to WhoScored, the English youngster has made seven starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies this season, scoring four goals in the process.
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Sherwood has said that Arsenal manager Arteta made a mistake in letting him leave on loan, and that Willock has to be part of the first team next season.
Sherwood said about Willock on Premier League Productions: “He has been magnificent for Newcastle. He struggled to get a run-in the (Arsenal) side.”
The former Aston Villa boss added: “Next year for me, he goes back to Arsenal and he plays, and it has been a mistake to let him go.”

Succeeding at Arsenal
Willock is getting valuable playing time at Newcastle, and Arsenal manager Arteta has said that he had to leave for game-time.
The Spaniard has also said that the 21-year-old has a chance to play for his team next season.
Willock needs to take his chance when he gets it at Arsenal and has to impress Arteta during pre-season training.
Players such as Bukaya Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have shown that if a youngster is good enough, then he will play regularly for the Arsenal first team.
Willock needs to end the season well at Newcastle and then work hard once he is back at Arsenal this summer.
