Jonjo Shelvey joined Newcastle United from Swansea City in the January transfer window.

Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has told The Shields Gazette that he did not consider leaving in the summer transfer window.
Shelvey joined Newcastle from Swansea City in the January transfer for a fee reported by The Guardian at the time to be in the region of £12 million.
The Magpies were struggling when the 24-year-old moved to St. James’ Park, and they suffered relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

It would have been tempting for a player of Shelvey’s quality and experience to leave Newcastle for a Premier League club in the summer transfer window, but the former Liverpool man has made it clear that he did not entertain the idea of moving at all.
“I’ve not thought about leaving once,” Shelvey told The Shields Gazette when asked if he had considered leaving. “I wanted to stay at this football club – I only signed in January!
“I’m settled here. I’ve got my family here and things like that. It’s a great city to live in and a great football club to play for.”

Newcastle are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are one of the favourites to finish in the top two.
Rafael Benitez’s side are currently third in the league table with 22 points from 11 matches, just three points behind leaders Huddersfield Town.
Shelvey has scored three goals and created 21 chances in 11 Championship appearances for Newcastle so far this season.
