The new Owls recruit has played alongside a number of illustrious names.

Jose Semedo isn’t the only Sheffield Wednesday star with friends in high places.

The midfielder, often listed as Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘and friend’ during the pair’s annual holiday together, grew up with the Real Madrid superstar at Sporting Clube de Portugal.

But having played for AC Milan, among others, before rocking up at Hillsborough at the start of this month, it should come as little surprise that Urby Emanuelson also knows his fair share of footballing icons.

The Dutchman was part of the Rossoneri side that won the 2011 Scudetto, alongside Ronaldinho, Zlatan and, bizarrely, ex-Owls defender Oguchi Onyewu, to name a few.

Then, in 2013, another illustrious name entered (or rather, re-entered) the San Siro – a Brazilian by the name of Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite (or Kaka, to you and I).

And on Thursday, Emanuelson tweeted a picture of the pair as they celebrate the attacking midfielder’s goal during a Champions League fixture.

Interestingly, Emanuelson and Onyewu are not the only teammates of Kaka to have played for Wednesday at some stage in their career, with James O’Connor (now manager of Louisville City) and Luke Boden colleagues of his at Orlando City.
