Playing for Celtic or Rangers is tempting for any young footballer, and it is a testament to Clare’s talent and calibre that the Hoops and the Gers are (reportedly) looking at him.

However, for the development and progress of Clare, he should not move to Celtic or Rangers and should stay in England, be that in the Championship or the Premier League.

Football in the top two divisions in England is far better and more competitive that the Scottish Premiership, and for the Wednesday midfielder to progress as a footballer and test himself against the very best, he should face the challenge in the Championship or the Premier League.

Clare is still only 21 years of age, and for now, he has to test himself. Moving to Celtic or Rangers would be the easier option; the Wednesday youngster should look at moving to Leeds, Wolves or Derby in order to better himself.
