The Sheffield Wednesday striker has spent most of this season on loan to Derby County.

Injured striker Sam Winnall has remained at Derby County for treatment, despite still being owned by Sheffield Wednesday.
Winnall suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage last week, which he revealed will rule him out for ‘the reason of the season and beyond’.
Sheffield Wednesday announced afterwards that dialogue is ongoing between themselves and Derby regarding his rehabilitation.
However, a video posted on Winnall’s Instagram story shows him undergoing rehabilitation at the Rams’ training facility.

Wednesday loaned the 27-year-old to Derby at the end of the summer transfer window, in a deal which saw midfielder Jacob Butterfield move in the opposite direction on loan.
It was reported at the time that the Owls have an option to turn Butterfield’s deal permanent, although it remains to be seen whether or not the same applies to the Rams’ Winnall agreement.

Either way, there is nothing to stop the two clubs discussing a permanent transfer for the former Barnsley striker, who has scored six goals in 18 appearances for Derby.
