League One Sunderland were keen to recruit left-back Morgan Fox, now he’s in fine form in the Championship for Garry Monk’s Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox has admitted that he was aware of interest from Sunderland towards the end of the summer transfer window, as reported by the Yorkshire Post.
It was no secret that in the final few weeks of Jack Ross’ reign, the manager made signing a new left-back an absolute priority for the Black Cats.
And Fox, despite some underwhelming performances which saw him subjected to boos from his own supporters at Hillsborough, emerged as one of the top targets heading into deadline day.
The Northern Echo claims that Sunderland had a bid rejected by Sheffield Wednesday and the Wearside giants eventually accepted defeat, instead signing Laurens de Bock on loan from Leeds United.
And Fox himself has now indicated that the speculation was absolutely on the money.
“Obviously, I was aware of it as it involved myself. In terms of me and the way I work, I just get on with it and get on with my job,” said the former Charlton youngster, whose contract is due to expire next summer.
“I spoke to (former Sheffield Wednesday caretaker Lee Bullen) about it, but I’ve always been committed about doing my job here. Whenever I put on a shirt for Wednesday, I always give my most. I am enjoying my football and am back in the team now.

“Obviously, I have only got until the end of the season and it is out of my hands really.”
Fox has silenced the doubters with an excellent run of form since Garry Monk took over the Owls, starting the last three Championship games and producing a stand-out display during Saturday’s goalless draw with Leeds United.
And should Fox continue this run, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be rewarded with a new deal.
