Sheffield Wednesday’s latest Instagram post suggests the Owls are set for a major boost ahead of Saturday’s South Yorkshire derby against Barnsley.
Wednesday are clinging onto the Championship’s final play-off place having won just one of their last six matches.
Injuries to a string of key players have not helped the Owls’ cause – however, it appears as though two of Carlos Carvalhal’s missing men could be in line to feature at Oakwell.
Striker Gary Hooper and midfielder Sam Hutchinson are both clearly visible in a training ground photo posted on Wednesday’s account on Tuesday, alongside the caption: “In good shape for Barnsley on Saturday”, while defender Tom Lees, who returned from a spell on the sidelines against Reading 12 days ago, is also easily identifiable.
Wednesday have picked up one point from a possible nine without Hutchinson this month, while Hooper, who was last season’s second-top scorer at Hillsborough, has not played a first-team game since mid-November.
The Owls are also hoping for positive news on the fitness of talisman Fernando Forestieri, as well as reigning player of the month Ross Wallace, neither of whom are obviously present above.
Midfielders Almen Abdi and Kieran Lee, meanwhile, are expected to remain sidelined against the Tykes.
