The defender has played a variety of roles since breaking into the Sheffield Wednesday first team.
The Sheffield Wednesday defender Jordan Thorniley has revealed he would rather play at centre-half than left full-back.
Thorniley returned to Wednesday’s starting XI for the Steel City derby at Bramall Lane on the eve of the international break, helping the Owls to their first league clean sheet of the season from a central role.
The former Everton academy player had previously played on the left for Accrington Stanley, as well as in Sheffield Wednesday’s fixtures against Hull City, Brentford and Bristol City earlier in the campaign.
But asked on Instagram which was his preferred position, Thorniley replied: “CB.”
Thorniley moved to Hillsborough two-and-a-half years ago following his release by Everton, but it took until January of 2018 for his debut to arrive under the then newly-appointed Wednesday manager, Jos Luhukay.
The 21-year-old has since played 23 times for the Owls, with whom he signed a new three-year contract shortly after his emergence at first-team level.
He is one of three left-sided centre-halves currently on Sheffield Wednesday’s books, along with Daniel Pudil and Joost van Aken and will hope to keep the pair at bay by building on his performance against Sheffield United.
