Jack Hunt played for Huddersfield after coming up through the Academy but is looking forward to taking three points from the Championship leaders.

Sheffield Wednesday defender Jack Hunt is looking forward to returning to his childhood club Huddersfield Town this weekend and upsetting some old friends.

Hunt started out as a nine-year-old at Town and played for the senior team for three years before making his move to the Premier League with Crystal Palace in 2013.

The right-back made the return to Yorkshire with loan spells at Barnsley, Rotherham and eventually Sheffield Wednesday before making the move to Hillsborough permanent this summer.

The 25-year-old will return to the John Smith’s Stadium this Sunday for the televised game and is impressed with what David Wagner has done so far.

Hunt told the Yorkshire Post: “You can’t hide anything and have to give Town a lot of credit. The manager has come in and had a full pre-season with them after coming in last year.

“They are really enjoying it there so fair play to them but we will be looking to take three points off them.”

The Owls defender made more than 100 appearances for Huddersfield before heading to the Premier League and came close to returning to the top tier last season before Wednesday lost to Hull in the playoff finals.

And whilst Hunt is impressed with Huddersfield’s start to the season, he is not intimidated by their league position.

“They have started well and if they continue this run they will be right up there.

“They could make the top six, even the top two. But this Championship is a marathon, not a sprint and there’s a long way to go.”

Carlos Carvalhal’s team have had a positive start to the season, sitting in ninth place with five wins from 11 games.

Nevertheless this will be a big ask for the Owls as only one of those wins has been on the road, against Blackburn, and Wagner’s side are still undefeated at home.
