Goalkeeper Dawson and defender Hector helped unfancied Wednesday to a first clean sheet of the season at the home of their main rivals, with the former saving an early penalty from David McGoldrick.
And Dawson’s performance provided a welcome respite for a player who has faced strong criticism from some sections of the Owls’ support base in his maiden campaign as Hillsborough’s first choice in goal.

And Hector was one of the many who replied to the Sheffield Wednesday academy product, writing: “F*****g catch it “
But Dawson hit back, telling the on-loan Chelsea defender to: “Head it an kick it you an leave the cruyff turns to the boys that can play!!”
Hector was guilty of trying to over-play on one notable occasion, although his error went unpunished by Sheffield United.
The Owls’ reigning player of the month was surprisingly dropped for his side’s 4-0 defeat against Norwich City the previous weekend.
