Sheffield Wednesday paid a then club-record fee to sign Reach from Middlesbrough two years ago.
Adam Reach has told the Sheffield Wednesday Youtube channel he is past feeling sentimental about facing his old club, Middlesbrough.
Reach came through the ranks at Middlesbrough, although it was Newcastle United the Chester-le-Street native grew up supporting.
And despite having featured in six separate campaigns for the Teessiders, yielding 77 appearances, the winger does not view his former side any different to the rest of Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals.
Discussing Middlesbrough’s visit to Hillsborough on Friday, Reach said: “It’s our third game in recent weeks where we’ve played the team who are either top or very near the top. So it’s another good test for us.
“I think we’ve shown everyone, not just the fans, that we can match those teams and, at some points, outplay them as well.
“We’re all looking forward to the Middlesbrough game, it’s going to be a big test and if we can get any sort of point or three points from there it’ll move us even further into the play-off positions where we want to be come the end.
“It’s not the first time I’ve now come up against them. We played them a couple of times last season and it’s always nice because there’s still a few players there who were there when I was there.
“And there’s a few of the backroom staff who I’m sure I’ll have a little chat with but no, I’m past that point now of feeling any sort of sentimental value or looking for revenge or anything like that.
“It’s just another game that I want to, if I do play, go out and put a good performance in and take three points.”
Reach has already scored four goals and set up two for Sheffield Wednesday this season and was recently named the PFA Fans’ Championship Player of the Month for September.
The 25-year-old has yet to score against Middlesbrough, however, although he was on target for them when the two sides met at Hillsborough three years ago.
Defender Danny Batth is the only former Sheffield Wednesday player in Boro’s senior ranks.
