Sheffield Wednesday’s Will Buckley is yet to recapture his form which once earned a Premier League move.
It is more than two years since Sunderland were convinced to sign in form Brighton winger Will Buckley, with Gus Poyet bringing him to the Stadium of Light.
Like Liam Bridcutt, Buckley’s time in Sunderland has not been a success, with a rotating door of managers at the club all failing to see him as part of the first team.
Bridcutt found a happy home at Leeds United during a loan spell last season, signing permanently in the summer, but Buckley did not have a happy spell at Elland Road.

Buckley signed on loan with Leeds last season but played in four forgettable matches for Steve Evans’ side, and was sent back to Sunderland.
The Black Cats were not able to shift him permanently this summer, and he was sent on loan to Sheffield Wednesday for the season.
At the Owls, Buckley has been unable to prove Leeds wrong for so quickly passing on him.

The former Brighton winger has managed just one start for Carlos Carvalhal’s side, plus a further seven substitute appearances.
During his 208 minutes on the pitch, Buckley has no goals, no assists, and created three chances.
He was not picked at the weekend in Sheffield Wednesday’s loss to Reading, last featuring a week earlier against Preston.
