Sheffield Wednesday reportedly want to sign Sunderland’s George Honeyman in the summer transfer window.
Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has told Roker Rapport that George Honeyman wants to leave in the summer transfer window, and this will be music to the ears of Sheffield Wednesday.
According to The Chronicle, Championship club Wednesday want to sign Honeyman from Sunderland, who will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the second tier of English football.
Black Cats’ owner Donald has stated that Honeyman wants to leave the League One club, something that Wednesday will be interested in.
Donaldo told Roker Rapport about Honeyman: “Jack (Ross) had a conversation with George Honeyman and it was okay, but his agent (Margaret Byrne) said that he would prefer to be a Championship or a Premier League footballer.”
Good signing for Sheffield Wednesday?
Honeyman is a very talented and promising young midfielder, and the 23-year-old would be a good singing for Wednesday in the summer transfer window.
The Englishman made 37 starts and five substitute appearances for Sunderland this past season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in the process.
The 23-year-old knows the Championship inside out and has proved itself in the division, and Honeyman would be a smart addition to the Wednesday squad.
The Owls will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season, while Sunderland will be hoping to win automatic promotion from League One.
