Reports claim Carvalhal could be sacked by Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday-supporting Paul Hurst is a popular choice to succeed Carlos Carvalhal at Hillsborough, according to Owls fans on Twitter.
Wednesday have dropped to 14th in the Championship following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Norwich City, which extended their winless run to five matches.
Any support that may have remained for Carvalhal now appears to have evaporated, and a report in this week’s Sun on Sunday suggested that his two-and-a-half-year reign could be brought to an end if the Owls fail to impress against league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday.
But as well as the usual suspects being mentioned as a possible successors, Hurst’s name is also featuring prominently.
The 43-year-old has led an unfancied Shrewsbury Town side to second in League One in his first full season at New Meadow and had previous success at Grimsby Town.
He may have spent his playing entire career at Wednesday’s local rivals Rotherham United, but Hurst grew up supporting the Owls.
And according to this lot, he’d be an excellent choice for the Hillsborough hotseat.
