The Owls have won back-to-back games for the first time since April.

You’ve never quite seen it all at Hillsborough. From being 2-1 and a man down to Bristol City – after Sam Hutchinson had brought down Marlon Pack to concede a 60th-minute penalty – Sheffield Wednesday came back to win 3-2 in Tuesday’s Championship encounter.

Lee Tomlin’s spot-kick then cannoned off the right-hand post of Keiren Westwood and as Gary Hooper launched an immediate counter-attack, the striker was felled by his Robins namesake O’Neil, whose challenge was deemed worthy of a second yellow card.

From there, Carlos Carvalhal’s side – who had trailed to a Tammy Abraham double but reduced the deficit through Steven Fletcher’s header after the break – seized the initiative, and were back on level terms 15 minutes from time following Barry Bannan’s speculative strike, which outfoxed ex-Owl, and boyhood Wednesdayite Richard O’Donnell in the Bristol City goal.

Then, as if Wednesday hearts hadn’t taken enough of a battering already, Kieran Lee received the ball in space, wriggled free of Aden Flint, and fired an unstoppable drive beyond O’Donnell with only seconds of added-on time remaining.
