Sheffield Wednesday reportedly wanted Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw last summer.

Sheffield Wednesday’s attempt to take Adam Forshaw on a season-long loan last summer always appeared a little on the ambitious side, as reported by the Sheffield Star.
After all, Middlesbrough had just been promoted to the Premier League with the former Everton youngster exactly the kind of hard-working central midfielder favoured by pragmatic manager Aitor Karanka.

And despite Boro eventually finishing only one place above bottom of the table Sunderland, the fact that Forshaw played 30 games in the Premier League in 2016/17 justifies the club’s decision to keep him at the Riverside.
In fact, if more of Middlesbrough’s squad performed with the same consistency, they may have made a better fist of maintaining their top flight status.

Nonetheless, their immediate return to the second tier has given rise to speculation about the future of many of the club’s key men, notably influential captain Ben Gibson.
In For Adam?
Therefore, it would be little surprise if Wednesday attempted to renew their interest in the precise passing midfielder this summer – especially with Boro’s immediate future up in the air with no permanent manager in place just yet.
And with Wednesday losing out to Huddersfield in the play-off semi-finals one year after suffering Wembley heart-break at the hands of Hull City, the fact that Forshaw has two promotions on his CV, with Boro and Brentford, will undoubtedly appeal.
