Sheffield Wednesday right-back Jack Hunt has hailed his defensive team-mate Tom Lees as potentially the best central defender in the Championship.
The Owls have had a mixed start to the season but currently sit in ninth in the Championship – with hopes of another play-off appearance surely high on the agenda at Hillsborough.

This weekend they take on the early pace setters in the division Huddersfield Town. If Wedensday are going to get anything from the game this Saturday they will need to be strong at the back, with Lees a big part of their hopes of success.
The 25-year-old central defender joined the Owls in 2014 from Leeds United and has gone on to become a staple of the Wednesday side.

Hunt, who was speaking to the Yorkshire Post, had this to say about Lees’s performances:
“He’s been absolutely exceptional, and deserves every credit he gets.
“He’s right up there with the best (defenders) in the league.
“People forget how many games he has played for his age, his experience is vital to us. He’s a rock at the back for us.
“I am surprised he is not playing in the Premier League, to be honest with you, but I don’t make signings for other teams.
“I am just very happy he is playing alongside me at Wednesday.”

Hunt will of course be going up against his former team this weekend, after coming through the youth ranks at the West Yorkshire club.
He will want to get one over on his old club and that will mean Lees having to be on form. Hunt doesn’t seem to fear that not being the case.
