Brentford have snubbed an approach from Sheffield Wednesday for midfield star Ryan Woods, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has been looking to strengthen his midfield options before the close of the transfer window and had identified a move for Brentford’s Woods.
However, Brentford have rebuffed Wednesday’s approach and informed their Championship rivals that Woods was not for sale on deadline day.
Brentford were reluctant to consider selling Woods after seeing key duo Harlee Dean and Jota both leave Griffin Park for Championship rivals Birmingham recently.

Woods has established himself as one of the best midfield schemers in the Championship since joining Brentford from Shrewsbury Town in 2015.
The 23-year-old has made over 90 appearances for Brentford and a number of clubs have been keeping tabs on his situation at Griffin Park this summer.
News of Brentford fending off Wednesday’s interest in Woods will come as a major boost to Bees boss Dean Smith after a difficult start to the new Championship campaign.
