The Owls have slipped out of the play-off places after a dismal run of form.
Sheffield Wednesday’s William Buckley and teammates look dejected
When Barnsley crashed in a 95th minute equaliser to prevent Sheffield Wednesday claiming a much needed three points, the fans’ frustrations stepped up another notch following a truly woeful run of form.
Carlos Carvalhal’s side have now won just one of their last seven Championship fixtures, and there were absolutely no surprises after Fulham leapfrogged the Owls into sixth place at the weekend.
The phrase ‘shot yourself in the foot’ has taken a new meaning following the recent form at Hillsborough, and while Wednesday remain just a point outside the play-offs, they need to buck their ideas up – and fast.
With just seven games to go, Wednesday need a lucky break from somewhere if they are to make the play-offs, especially with a rather indifferent set of fixtures left to play.

Wednesday face recently relegated Rotherham United next, who would love nothing more than to dent their promotion aspirations further on their way down, before hosting table toppers Newcastle United, teams who want to impress their new managers in Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers and Derby County, relegation threatened Ipswich Town, and then Fulham on the final day.
Falling out of the top six needs to be a wake up call for Wednesday, and victory against Rotherham is paramount – anything less will mean the Owls would require a lot more than luck to stay in the play-off race.
