Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Adam Reach has told the Sheffield Star that Steve Bruce is urging his squad to play through the pain barrier.

Wednesday are playing catch up in the race for the play offs, and their defeat to Aston Villa last weekend has left their chances of promotion looking very slim.

However, Bruce does not want his side to give up their hopes of reaching the top six.

And Bruce is now asking his Wednesday players to play through injuries, as they make one last push for a top six place.

“Listen, it’s been a long season, we’ve played a lot of games, it takes its toll,” Reach said.

“The manager has asked us to play through certain issues and give us one last push. Barry unfortunately had to come off. He’s a player who’s playing with a lot of pain and a lot of niggles, But if we get to the play-offs it’ll all be worth it. Just one last push.”

Wednesday are currently in 12th place in the Championship table, and sit six points short of the play offs.

The Owls are likely to have to win every single one of their remaining games if they are to force their way back into promotion contention.

Wednesday are next in action later this evening when they take on fellow play off chasers Nottingham Forest.
