Sheffield Wednesday allegedly have a ‘strong interest’ in Everton’s Ellis Simms.
The Owls join Sunderland, Ipswich Town and Stoke City in the race to sign the striker this summer, according to The Northern Echo.
Ellis Simms netted seven goals for the Black Cats during the first half of last season before he was recalled to Goodison Park.

The forward went onto bag a late equaliser in a huge clash against Chelsea back in March. However, he managed only two starts for Everton and could bring his six-year stay to an end this summer.
The newspaper reported that Sunderland had held talks over a move for Simms, however they face plenty of competition for his signature and Sheffield Wednesday’s presence makes their pursuit even harder.
Everton are yet to make a decision on Simms’ future and could wait until they have added to their attack before they let him return to the Championship.
Sean Dyche praised Simms’ power and pace after he scored against the Blues, but clearly doesn’t favour the attacker.
Would Ellis Simms want to join Sheffield Wednesday over Sunderland?
Sunderland are now one of four known clubs to be targeting Simms, however they – on paper – remain the most desirable destination.
The 22-year-old already knows the club and has a great relationship with the fans, while the Black Cats are arguably the most likely side to win promotion next season.

Their current crop have also proven that the Stadium of Light is one of the best places to develop young players and Tony Mowbray could help Simms become an incredible player.
However, it may come down to the money and if Sunderland aren’t willing to pay above the asking price then they are likely to lose out.
Questions may also be asked by both Simms and the club about where he fits into the team.
Simms was always his best alongside Ross Stewart, but the Wearside outfit excelled in a different formation towards the end of the season and there is no way that he would take the Scot’s place in the starting line-up.
