Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters hope to see one Owls player in action Sunderland on Thursday.

With three league games in six days to follow, Wednesday are expected to rest some of their key men at the Stadium of Light.

And that could spell opportunities for some of the Owls youngsters, with Preslav Borukov the name on many people’s lips ahead of kick-off.

Borukov impressed for Sheffield Wednesday’s U18 and U23 sides last season, prompting Wednesday to offer him his first professional contract in June, although he is yet to appear in a senior matchday squad.

But with Atdhe Nuhiu (above, right) and Steven Fletcher the only other Owls strikers fit to face Sunderland, there’s a good chance that could change.

And according to Jordan Thorniley’s Instagram story update – which appeared to show Borukov dining with the first team on Thursday – the Bulgarian teenager is in contention to feature.
