Sheffield Wednesday offered the Owls fan favourite a new one-year deal to keep him at Hillsborough until 2020.

A number of Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that midfielder Kieran Lee has signed a new contract with the Championship club (official Owls website).
The 31-year-old, who moved to Hillsborough in the summer of 2012 from Oldham Athletic, was previously contracted to Wednesday until 30 June but he has now penned a new one-year deal.
Lee has spent the past seven years with the South Yorkshire club, scoring 22 goals in 186 outings and scoring 22 goals, but last season was difficult for him as injuries limited him to just two appearances at the end of the campaign.
Nonetheless, Lee is set to go into his eighth season with Wednesday and several Owls fans gave their opinions on social media:
Lee, a Manchester United academy graduate, made a return to action for Wednesday in the penultimate fixture of last season, coming on as a late substitute in the draw at Preston North End.
The fan favourite followed that up by starting and playing over an hour of the Owls’ final-day defeat to Queens Park Rangers, while the pre-season programme has seen him travel to both Portugal and Germany training camps and featuring in the summer friendlies.
