A number of Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on Julian Borner being voted the club’s player of the month for August.

The centre-back joined the Owls from German club Arminia Bielefeld in the summer and has enjoyed a bright start to life at Hillsborough with a series of solid performances.

Wednesday got off to a superb start to the season, winning three of their first four Championship fixtures, though they lost their last two before the arrival of the international break.

Nonetheless, two clean sheets in the league is testament to a fairly strong defence, to which Borner has contributed significantly, so it’s little surprise that he picked up the gong.

The 28-year-old is followed by Kadeem Harris in second place, while Steven Fletcher took third place, as reported by Wednesday’s official website.

Here is what some Wednesday fans said on Twitter after the announcement by the Owls social media channel:

Up next for Wednesday is their trip to Huddersfield Town a week on Saturday.
