The new Sheffield Wednesday manager is being ridiculed by some on Twitter.

Steve Bruce the head coach

Sheffield Wednesday fans are responding after the Daily Mail published photos of the new Owls manager, Steve Bruce, in Barbados this week.

The former Aston Villa and Hull City boss was appointed by Wednesday at the start of this month, but delayed his start until February 1.

It is understood that Bruce had already promised to repay his wife for the time she had devoted to his late parents while he was employed by Aston Villa.

But the 58-year-old’s appearance on the Caribbean island – where he appears to be watching part of England’s ongoing cricket tour – has proved a source of ridicule for supporters of some clubs.

Many of a Sheffield Wednesday persuasion are backing the new man’s decision, however.

This is what they’re saying on Twitter…

Bruce led each of Hull and Birmingham City into the Premier League on two occasions, but fell agonisingly short of promotion with Aston Villa last season.

Sheffield Wednesday will struggle to reach the top-flight from 16th place, however, and look set to face a transfer embargo for the second summer running.
