Sheffield Wednesday host Pulis’s Middlesbrough on Friday.

Tony Pulis’s complaints about EFL fixture scheduling have attracted little sympathy from fans of Sheffield Wednesday. Wednesday host Pulis’s Middlesbrough side on Friday evening in a game that was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon until Sky Sports intervened.

It is the first either side has played since the October international break, which, for some players did not end until Tuesday evening.

And speaking to the media ahead of Boro’s visit to Hillsborough, Pulis said: “I think Sheffield Wednesday have had one player away, we’ve had 10.

“This will be our first day back to do any work, which is one day before the game. That’s the disappointing thing, but we have to get on with it.

“It’s no good crying and moping about it now. The facts are the facts and we’ve put that forward to the bodies concerned in respect of us having a lot of players away and Sheffield Wednesday almost having no players away.”

It would be a fair point, had the Owls not released FOUR first team players – Atdhe Nuhiu (Kosovo), Michael Hector (Jamaica), Josh Onomah (England Under-21s) and Ash Baker (Wales U21s) – for international duty.

And when you remove those yet to feature in Middlesbrough’s Championship campaign, the Teesside club released just two more (SIX).
