Clare returned to Sheffield Wednesday from a loan spell at Gillingham in January.

Sean Clare was handed his first Sheffield Wednesday start as the Owls beat Derby County 2-0 at Hillsborough on Tuesday – putting an end to the recent rumours about his future.
Clare – who had made just one cameo appearance since returning from a loan spell at Gillingham in January – was omitted from Wednesday Under-23s’ defeat at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, prompting some to speculate that he – like teammate George Hirst – had been banished by the Owls as punishment for his failure to sign a new contract.
That theory was quickly dispelled, however, as Clare helped to secure Jos Luhukay’s first league win as Sheffield Wednesday manager on an impressive full debut.

And while Clare was somewhat overshadowed by teammates Lucas Joao – scorer of both the Owls’ goals – and Adam Reach – heavily involved in both – his efforts against Derby have not gone unnoticed.
