The Benfica forward is reportedly wanted on loan by Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting on Twitter to reports linking the Owls with a move for Benfica’s Joao Amaral.
Jornal Record is the latest Portuguese publication to credit Wednesday with interest in the forward, who only signed for the Eagles’ from Vitoria de Setubal last month.
It is claimed the Yorkshire side are one of several clubs to make known their desire to take Amaral on loan, should he fail to break into Benfica’s immediate plans.

Sheffield Wednesday, whose CEO, Katrien Meire, was pictured in Portugal last week, have acquired a number of players from the Iberian nation in recent years – although that particular recruitment pool was expected to dry up following Carlos Carvalhal’s departure as Owls boss last December.
But for every Lucas Joao or Frederico Venancio, who each impressed last season, there is a Necj Pecnik or Diogo Amado – neither of whom are fondly remembered in the Steel City.

And despite Amaral’s nine goals and two assists from 28 league starts last term – in which he played more often than not in a central or wide attacking midfield role – many Owls fans are apprehensive about signing the 26-year-old.
This is what they are saying…
Would Amaral be a good signing for Sheffield Wednesday?
