Wednesday brought in Murphy from Newcastle to offer them pace and creativity in attack, but he has failed to do that so far.
The Newcastle man actually made a bright start at Hillsborough, but there are growing doubts over his quality at Wednesday.
And after the Owls were beaten 2-0 by Everton yesterday, Murphy was roundly criticised.
Newcastle fans will be disappointed to read the comments, as Murphy appears to be falling into the last chance saloon at St. James’ Park.
The winger has rarely shown that he has what it takes to cut it at St. James’ Park, and a poor loan spell could be disastrous for him.
Newcastle may well look to move Murphy on at the end of the season, but his performances at Wednesday are unlikely to be raising his value.
The Owls are next in action against Middlesbrough, when it remains to be seen whether Murphy will retain his place.
