Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the departure of Glenn Loovens from Sunderland.

Loovens have left Sunderland in League One by mutual consent, and some Wednesday fans want him back at the Hillsborough Stadium.

The 35-year-old central defender joined Wednesday back in December 2013, and the Dutchman parted company with the Owls in the summer of 2018.

The defender joined Sunderland in the summer of 2018, but the former Feyenoord man was able to make just 11 appearances in the league for the Black Cats before his recent departure.

Some Wednesday fans want Loovens back at the Owls, although in coaching capacity, as shown in the following tweets below.

Promotion challenge

Both Sunderland and Wednesday are aiming for promotion this season, with the Black Cats hoping to finish in the top two of the League One table and the Owls challenging for a top-six spot in the Championship standings.

Interestingly, Wednesday have yet to appoint a permanent manager, with Lee Bullen still in temporary charge.
