Boyd was handed a rare start for Wednesday by Lee Bullen, after being overlooked for most of the season.
Jos Luhukay had generally picked other options, with Boyd falling out of favour at Hillsborough.
However, the experienced left-winger was given the nod to start for Wednesday against Birmingham City.
And even though the Owls were only able to pick up a 1-1 draw in the contest, Boyd still earned praise for his display.
Boyd’s display has surely earned him the chance to play more regularly at Wednesday in the coming weeks.
There were doubts over his future at Hillsborough, but Bullen seems to be bringing the best out of him right now.
Steve Bruce is expected take charge of Wednesday in the near future, and Boyd will be hoping to keep his place under the new management.
