Sheffield Wednesday fans have reacted strongly to Danny Murphy’s apology for his comments on Steve Bruce.

Murphy was a pundit for BBC Sport on Sunday when Wednesday were taking on Chelsea in the FA Cup.

He criticised incoming manager Steve Bruce’s absence for the game, despite the manager being on a pre-arranged break from stress and the death of his parents, The Sun reported.

Murphy was on Talksport yesterday and offered a mea culpa. He said he did not have all the information and did not mean to cause offence.

Owls fans were not impressed despite Murphy’s apology, and felt he should never have made the criticism in the first place.

Murphy’s intentions appear genuine, but this did not spare him from a bashing on Twitter from Sheffield Wednesday supporters.
