Winnall has not played for Sheffield Wednesday’s first team in more than a year, having suffered a serious injury while on loan to Derby County.

Sam Winnall marked his injury comeback with the winning goal for Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-23s on Friday afternoon.
Winnall swept home a Jack Stobbs cross to see off Crewe Alexandra’s second string, before departing at the half-time interval.
The Owls striker’s early withdrawal, which was planned according to Neil Thompson, suggests he is still a while away yet from making a first team return.
But the following Sheffield Wednesday fans are dreaming about that day nonetheless…
Winnall has not played for Wednesday’s first team in more than a year, with the Owls loaning him to Derby County.
The 27-year-old impressed with six goals in 17 games for the Rams, but saw his time there cut short in February by a serious knee injury.
Steven Fletcher, Lucas Joao and Atdhe Nuhiu are among Winnall’s rivals for a place in Jos Luhukay’s team, while Gary Hooper remains on the sidelines.
When fit, does Winnall make your Sheffield Wednesday XI?
