The former Sheffield United player has got some Sheffield Wednesday fans talking on Twitter.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting to comments made by a Sheffield United legend about the city’s impact on the game of football.
As well as being the birthplace of the Sheffield Rules upon which modern football is largely based in 1858, the Steel City boasts both the world’s oldest club (Sheffield FC) and ground (Hallam FC’s Sandygate Road).
Then known as the Wednesday FC, Sheffield Wednesday were founded in 1867, while Sheffield United arrived 22 years later.
But speaking to the BBC at a football exhibition held at the city’s Central Library last week, the former Sheffield United player Tony Currie made the following claim, which is baffling several Sheffield Wednesday supporters.

“I’ve been here for 40 years and I feel that a big part of my life has been in Sheffield.
“Sheffield and Sheffield United especially were instrumental in making the game of football possible,” he said.
And this is what those of an Owls persuasion are saying on Twitter…
Chris Emsell @Christoph0512: Replying to @KivoLee
The ****’s he on about?
Stewart Merrill @StewartMerrill1: Replying to @KivoLee
He moved up here at 18 so his maths is really ****
Widely recognised among the biggest clubs in English football, Sheffield Wednesday, the Owls, have won four top division titles, three FA Cups and one League Cup to the one top division title and four FA Cups won by Sheffield United, the Blades.
Should the city of Sheffield make a bigger deal about its footballing history?
