Elliott, who was managed by Keane at Sunderland, claimed on the social media site that his fellow Irishman could be a good short-term option for Wednesday.
The Owls have lost six of their last eight league fixtures under Jos Luhukay, a run that has amplified calls for the Dutchman’s head.
Mick McCarthy (another of Elliott’s old bosses), Slavisa Jokanovic and even Mark Hughes have been mooted as potential replacements by some Sheffield Wednesday supporters, but what would those of an Owls persuasion make of Keane’s appointment?
