Sheffield Wednesday supporters are demanding a summer clear out after their side slumped to a third straight defeat on Tuesday.

The Owls were beaten 2-0 at Premier League Swansea City to bring to an end their participation in this season’s FA Cup.

Despite harbouring pre-season promotion aspirations, the 17th-placed side’s focus is now solely on Championship survival – after a campaign which has been somewhat derailed by injuries.

12 Wednesday players – the majority of whom are likely to have been involved at Swansea – missed the FA Cup defeat because of fitness issues, and many who replaced them – not only in that game but throughout the campaign – did little to endear themselves to the Hillsborough faithful.

In defence of those players, a fixture pile-up – which sees the Owls face nine games in 29 days across much of February and the start of March – has done them few favours.

However, the following Sheffield Wednesday supporters are in no mood for sympathy…

Only six first team players – Glenn Loovens, Daniel Pudil, Ross Wallace, Atdhe Nuhiu, Sean Clare and George Hirst – are out of contract at the end of this season, while Steven Fletcher and Jordan Rhodes still have two years to run on theirs.

And given their alleged salaries, the latter pair, along with the likes of David Jones, Almen Abdi, George Boyd, could prove difficult to shift.

Which players would survive a Sheffield Wednesday clear out?
