Derby County have signed the former Hull City defender and Sheffield Wednesday fans aren’t best pleased.

Sheffield Wednesday are one of several Championship sides looking to bolster their defensive line this summer.
But it’s the Owls promotion rivals Derby County who’ve delved first, bringing in Hull City’s Curtis Davies for a fee thought to be in the region of £500,000.

The Rams’ capture of the 32-year-old has drawn plaudits from fans across the country, although few have perhaps been more vocal than those of a Wednesday persuasion.
But not only are the Owls faithful disappointed not to have been in contention for Davies, they also feel they could end up with the worst end of the bargain, with one Derby defender in particular looking likely to leave Pride Park.

In Wednesday’s defence, while Davies may have been cheap in terms of transfer fee paid, it’s unlikely his wage demands would have been so easy on the chequebook, with the former England Under-21 international spending three of the past four seasons in the Premier League.
And with Financial Fair Play restrictions to consider, it’s plausible the Owls simply did not deem Davies a practical option – especially at his age, and with his career seemingly on the decline.
