The Sheffield Wednesday talent is out of contract in the summer.
Little more than 24 hours after his return to contention was confirmed by Sheffield Wednesday, George Hirst was back doing what he does best – scoring goals.
The 19-year-old scored one and made another for Wednesday’s Under-23s, who were beaten 3-2 at Leeds United.
Hirst had found himself frozen out by the Owls – who excluded him at every level until Friday’s outing – after he failed to agree a new contract at Hillsborough.

In a club statement published last December, Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri appeared resigned to losing the 18-year-old – who is understood to have attracted interest from several Premier League and Championship clubs – when his existing deal expires at the end of this season.
As revealed by new Owls manager Jos Luhukay on Thursday, however, Hirst not only is back in first team training but also back in contention to feature once fit.

The Dutchman would not comment on the player’s contract situation, however, and many Wednesday fans fear it’s all been too little too late.
Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter…
And that’s not the only thing they’re worried about…
