Thorniley moved to Sheffield Wednesday 18 months ago from Everton.
Jordan Thorniley became the second player from Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-23s to make his full debut under new Owls boss Jos Luhukay. The former Everton trainee followed in the footsteps of Frederik Nielsen – who was named in the Wednesday 11 for Tuesday’s FA Cup win against Carlisle United, for which Thorniley was cup-tied – by starting Saturday’s Championship visit of Cardiff City.
Thorniley, who moved to Hillsborough upon his release by Everton in summer 2016, spent the first half of the campaign on loan to Accrington Stanley.
But after Wednesday lost senior centre-backs Tom Lees and Joost van Aken to injury, the 21-year-old was retained upon his return to Sheffield at the start of this month.

Glenn Loovens’ suspension gave Thorniley a way in against Cardiff, and the Warrington-born talent appears to taken his chance… which could spell bad news for Loovens.
