The Frenchman believes his side are better, despite losing twice to Leeds this season.

Sheffield Wednesday defender Vincent Sasso has risked the wrath of Leeds United fans, by suggesting his Owls team are the better team.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post he made the suggestion that Leeds were not the better of the two teams, stating:

“Leeds have beaten us twice this season, but I don’t think they are better than us.”

Of course, Leeds fans did not take the comments well. As Sasso stated himself Leeds have beaten Wednesday twice this season, 2-0 at Hillsborough in August and 1-0 at Elland Road at the end of last month.

So Leeds can certainly claim that as compelling evidence. The Whites are also sitting in fourth position in the Championship table, with one eye on Brighton and Hove Albion in second place. Wednesday are in sixth but they are just three points behind their Yorkshire rivals.

On paper, Wednesday might have the better players and of course made it to the play-off final last season.

But this season Leeds United have, so far, been the more consistent of the two teams.

Sasso and his team-mates will however be giving it their all to prove his statements true by the end of the season as both Yorkshire sides battle for promotion to the Premier League.
