Sheffield Wednesday made two additions yesterday, with Achraf Lazaar and Rolando Aarons joining.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce has told the Guardian that he has already asked Dejphon Chansiri about a transfer budget at Hillsborough, but has received a negative response.

Wednesday were active in deadline day, as they brought in both Achraf Lazaar and Rolando Aarons on loan from Newcastle United.

However, Bruce does not think that he will be given much money to spend in his new role at Hillsborough.

He revealed: “I asked the chairman about the budget and he said there isn’t one, so we all know where we stand.

“I know the club has been operating under financial fair play restrictions, but so were Villa. It’s difficult for big clubs in the Championship if they no longer receive parachute payments but hopefully I can bring my experience to bear and try to find ways of improving [us].”

Bruce picks up Wednesday in a far healthier state than when Jos Luhukay left it.

Steve Agnew has done an impressive job in caretaker charge of the Owls, and helped steady the ship.

Wednesday are now in 17th place in the Championship table, and while that is a disappointment, they are at least well clear of relegation.

Wednesday are next in action tomorrow, when they take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road, and Bruce will be in the dugout for the first time.
